Have you thought of adding a “nation” of natives on the continent trying to fend off the colonizers? Because you really should.
The closest you get is the Pilquar that think they own lots of the land because they landed on the planet first. Though they come with a pretty heavy bag too like all the other nations.
You still need natives, though. They don’t have to play a big role, just small attacks on the settlers. Maybe they can get wiped out by the “bad” nation to emphasize there evil-ness. (If there is a bad nation)
The native are the animals though, and an alien species called the Commune that will appear later on.
