Welcome to Stick Nodes chess, standard chess but with the twist of it being replaced with Stick Nodes characters.
This is still a work in progress so trying to begin without any official input prior would just be a separate game of chess / project, in other words wait until Version 1.0 of Stick Nodes Chess is ready, then you may begin playing.
The goal is to create projects in which users can take turns, posting images of them moving their chess-piece. The idea is to have ‘casual games’ and eventually a tournament in which there could potentially be prizes, maybe cash and gift card, maybe just a Stickfigure request. Either way there are prizes to be won and a good time to be had so I recommend joining.
Whether this game will apply by normal chess-piece rules or exclusive Stick Nodes ones, that is still in development and is unknown currently, perhaps both at some point.
If you have any suggestions or questions please ask an Admin or Moderator.
Current Version:
Version 0.5 ( Concept / design stages )
Rules:
1. Standard site rules apply
2. No cheating and manipulating chess-pieces / the chessboard
3. Be respectful and play fairly
4. Please wait until a game is verified and Version 1.0 is out.
We apologise for the wait, please be patient

I keep forgetting to do this. The server is done, you can join if you want to participate or just see what progress has been made. https://discord.gg/PPz8vn5Jkn

This project has been pretty under-the-radar for a while now, I intend to bring it back and I may have found a way how to.
Upon doing some research Scratch (the game creation software mainly for kids and less-experienced game creators) has the option to create live multiplayer games, I’ve played around a bit with it on my tablet and so far so good.
The issue lies within design, planning and trying to make things work.
If anyone here has any Scratch experience any help would be appreciated so we can get this game released. If we see the game goes well we could set up a line of video games under a ‘company’ label like StickFinkzGames or something like that. It would also be applicable for the SNU.
What we’d need1. Game-mode concepts
2. Programmers, people familiar with Scratch
3. Sprites, artwork etc
4. Sounds, these can be one’s you’ve found off the internet
Unlike ArcFi I doubt progress will be as quick due to other projects I have to work on and likely others who work on this getting busy but I still intend to release this eventually.

If you want to help out in anyway that would be appreciated, I don’t expect you to though if you don’t want to or can’t so don’t worry if not.

I don’t do sprites but I can do art. If you find a sprite artist I can work with them to get some art down for them to translate into sprite form. Also game mode concepts I could probably think of a few. If you would like, I’ll create a server for all of this and so you can organize it all.

god dammit, you took it seriously and i want to do it now 🙁

Replying to:
Hell yeah I did.
By 2023 I want a bunch of Stick Nodes games for users to play.
If we’re lucky we might have a full release ArcFi by then.
Chess will only take a few months to get working functionally with a bunch of new interesting features.

the 2 of us will be the 1st people to probably be playing this game judging by how ralph said it
-
Replying to:
You mean it’ll be lost throughout the many groups of Stick Nodes and only word of mouth from Ralph will mean we’ll be the only one’s playing it?
You kind of lost me for how what Ralph said would correlate to only us playing.
-
Replying to:
i meant by how ralph described how sn chess would work, only the 2 of us would probably start playing it
-
Replying to:
“players have an SN project file of a chess board and characters as pieces, and image-reply in a thread back and forth with their moves”
seems to complicated and time consuming for alot of people to start doing until it becomes popularized
-
Replying to:
True, maybe they’ll be a roundabout way to approach this because opening and re-opening a project just to take a singular turn can become tedious very quickly.
-
Replying to:
ikr, i hope someone can figure out an easy way to do this.
ralphs version seems too hard to do for people who dont wanna do much to play
-

-
Replying to:
Oh right.
True, Chess can be complicated, I actually don’t fully know how to play it, I’m learning however and plan to help the people wanting to play learn or I’ll just create Stick Nodes exclusive rules to make thing’s easier.
I’m sure if it’s advertised correctly and gains enough appeal users will want to learn.
-
Replying to:
yeah, sn chess is definitely alot harder to figure out than normal chess, with all the project sending and picture threads ralph described it to probably work
-
Replying to:
Maybe if I can find enough about stuff I can make my own SN Chess or something, easier said than done of course but who knows, maybe.
