I don’t understand concept of “if it’s detailed it’s better”. I use this fig cause I like using it. it’s what I’m comfortable with.
You see, detail isn’t EVERYTHING, character design is.
You need to be able to effectively portray your character in a simple and creative way.
Base figs lack uniqueness, and without something to make you stand out, most just become hot topics and are dead in a few months after they’ve peaked.
You can see this with seasonal anime, only the unique stuff lasts, whilst the more generic of the bunch are fun in the moment, but the popularity soon fizzles, and it gets forgotten.

I care about progression in quality, you only care about holding this site back. If you want to live in the past and stay simple, go to pivot, go to StickPage, go to Scratch. There’s so many places that promote that thinking but StickNodes is not one of them.
If you can’t accept that this site is now taking a massive turn towards a brighter future, then you’re just gonna hate this place and people will hate you back.
as a scratch user this is slightly insulting but also somewhat true

Even then, just because these are opinions doesn’t mean to simply ignore them.
Using base figs won’t get you far in most places nowadays. It won’t get you far as a hobbyist, or a professional, AND THAT IS STATISTICS.
Most people can’t even name most scarf figs because they all look like each other. Really people can only name a few famous ones (and even then they aren’t as famous anymore) such as Heckray, Kaido, and Mei.
There’s little reason anymore to use base figs than staying in your comfort zone, but no one anywhere on this planet got anywhere far or made any lasting impact by staying in their comfort zone.
Snow White would’ve have been as impressive and important to the industry like it was if it wasn’t in full color.
Just like how SNM changed the entire game by not flimsily trying to create a plot just so you can string a bunch of fight scenes together, but instead put the plot FIRST and that’s what gave Epitaph his popularity today!
Not only by playing it safe and staying in the box severely limit your potential, it doesn’t get you anywhere!
This animation industry is lacking so much creativity right now, whether it being because most animated movies that aren’t from Disney or Pixar are almost always trash, and even the hidden gems don’t get much attention, or towards the fact that almost every cartoon nowadays looks the same!
Why would you want to add to the pile of uncreativity?!

Creators of social media or whatever don’t control what goes on, they just make some rules and some guidelines and let the community go wild.
Ralph has stated MANY times that his focus is primarily on the app, and just lets the community do whatever whilst occasionally commenting and making jokes.
Case and point, maybe the creators of Reddit don’t like all of the discussions going on, it might even be against their will, but as long as it isn’t breaking the rules and guidelines (and if the owners don’t make any bullsh!t rules specifically to target what they don’t like) then he community SHOULD be able to do whatever the hell they want.

Sharing with a friend and sharing with a complete stranger are 2 entirely different scenario
If you were to show something to someone of relatively good relationship, odds are, they’re gonna tone down their response. Hell they’ll probably give you unearned praise simply because you’re their friend
You gotta learn to read the audience, know what they want, etc.
This process is simple, make up a quick fig, show it to your parents/friends/siblings/guardian/S.O/what ever, then show it to someone on the internet. The response are completely different depending on their relationship with you.
I’m not criticizing them simply for sharing, I’m criticizing them for always expecting a positive response…..on the internet
People apologizing for simple figs are in the minority also, it’s just that this isn’t that big of a community. Only like, 50 people actively post on the activity page, which is why you see such a clear split in ideals. Also no, there isn’t any “huge disagreeing” there are just big fights usually involving @epitaph200 . Most of the time no one really cares when someone like me post a-not even that harsh-criticism encouraging more detail.
A lot of people think that Epitaph has created this META that if you EVER suggest more detail you’re being just like Epitaph who notoriously uses harsher criticism.
If you simply suggest a more detailed design you’re somehow an circlejerking, trend following, ass-riding, asshole who shoved their opinion down someone’s throats.
Also it’s a common fact that popular people shift the trends and meta, you may not like it, but it’s true
If you simply choose to reject this meta you’re gonna get excluded. You may not like that, but it happens

Whilst sure the stig fig “hate” isn’t as minor as I might’ve made it out to be, it isn’t as rampant as some suppose.
What qualifies as criticism dude? It’s extremely muddy. There are a lot of forms of criticism, so you can’t definitively say Epitaph’s is hate
Critique isn’t always sugar-coated or nice, or always provides solutions. Most of the time they just say what’s wrong with it, leaving yourself to fix it

Hate is something that’s not helpful to anybody.
YES it exists, but not in the capacity you say.
Epitaph has explained many times why using a scarf fig is bad, or why Scythes are bad, or why Katanas are bad. Now sometimes this is opinions but that’s the thing about opinions, it’s your choice to listen, and his rants on why _____ is bad can provide helpful to some folks.
I don’t advise not listening to advice as then you’re gonna end up most of the time with an uncoordinated mess.
Even hate comments can provide helpful if you just asked “Why does this suck?” And if they answer ask them “How can I improve it?” Or CALMLY tell them why it works in an intelligible way.
Epitaph’s comments that just seem like hate is because he doesn’t feel like explaining, cuz’ he’s done it over, and over, and over, and over!
He’s personally getting tired of having to explain his thoughts, so YES it does come off as mindless hate.
Don’t just say “Cause I wanted to do this” or “I’m just having fun” because 1. Sometimes this line of thinking can come off a bit pretentious, and is also a lousy excuse, but just because you wanted it this why DOESNT ALWAYS MEAN ITS GOOD.
2. I have already stated this, but if you truly wanted to something for fun, don’t show it to strangers on the internet.

Look up any video about critique on YouTube and most of the time the comments are cancerous.

You didn’t wow at Incredibles because it was just a base fig fighting a bunch of nameless randies
You didn’t awe in amazement at Ghost In The Shell (The original, not the normie-fied Hollywood edition) because all the characters were stick figures fighting each other
You didn’t cry sorrowful tears when Bigfoot’s mom died because she was a kickass fighter whom wore a scarf for no apparent reason.
You liked these movies because they had an interesting plot and characters that even in the fights scenes still had interesting unique ideas, and they knew how to tell them.
Because the story came before the fights
Because the characters were design with more in mind than looking “cool*” (although in some cases this isn’t a bad thing*)
Because they could keep you genuinely interested without having to have a fight scene every 5 minutes.
Or maybe you didn’t see any of these movies and have no idea what I’m talking about.
