Spotlight Critiques
A group focused on reasonably criticizing the old and new animations featured in the spotlight and future animations brought onto the spotlight so no spotlight animations are thrown into the background and forgotten behind the new animations.
Rules
-If you are to vote for any animation that is your own, go ahead and vote, but vote on it as if you are looking at your old self and bringing up what you can improve on.
-Forcefully telling people everywhere to hate on an animation isn’t cool. Really, don’t be that guy just cause you want the top spot.
-Vote hard, be hard on the people who get spotlight, they already are ranked high having their animation presented in spotlight, so don’t be afraid to give a low rating on that stuff, that all is private anyway.
-Go ahead and give a statement of what you see on the animation, you can put your exact rating in or not on every category. Just don’t force yourself to make one, it’s not necessary.

Despite one already being rated, we will go through it anyway in case you want to add an additional rating.
First up is 1,000 Subs by Aeon Wolf. Considering it’s just a celebration, I don’t expect much. But at the same time, Aeon always does something right. That’s animation.
http://sticknodes.com/spotlight/1000-subs/Next up is Project Landfall Ep 2: Prison Break by Explosive Bullet. This is an episode that was a big improvement from it’s predecessor. While it improved, it kept quite a few things that are bad from the previous episode as well as good. Including text walls, animation forged 70% through the add tweened frame button, stale dialogue scenes and so on. God is Episode 3 an improvement. Admitably the animation is actually quite nice here. A little inconsistent but nice. Not as good as my newer stuff though. Still get blown away into how much detail is jammed into one scene and how beautiful night time scenes are. But well check this one out as the primary animation since it’s a series.

Yeah, I’m doing this like 12 hours earlier than usual, but I got all sorts of things to do tomorrow and I want to make sure I leave available time tomorrow for working on Project Landfall. So yeah.
First up we got… https://youtu.be/vg6z-QNql7U ANOTHER ONE. BY THIS GUY AGAIN. Well I can’t sugar coat it. I have no hope for this one considering the last ones he’s made. Not saying he’s bad, but just doesn’t have much special. Let’s see how Goku & Vegeta vs Jiren by Black Animator holds up.

Depression from yesterday has worn off knowing I’m not the only one who was mad. But the stuff we have today to rate looks rather promising.
First up we have Symbols Episode 9 – Trailer by Cloudy 1. Thumbnail doesn’t look like it’s gonna bring anything unique, but for a trailer I hope this shows something cool and teases a story well.

Nothing unique, but interesting as he does a good job remaking these scenes in a good format. Though originality is out of the question.

Pretty depressed today. Really looking forward to The Last Of Us 2…. But the story in that is more of a mess than 90 percent of the stories we’ve reviewed here. But I must go on. Just if you are interested in seeing how that game turns out, expect disappointment.
First up is PUBG vs Free Fire by Joker Execution. Joker has some nice animation. Not a fan of some of his style choices like the drop to 1fps for a breathing animation. But this will be interesting. Though I ain’t a fan of Battle Royale Games.

Both today will be quite possibly confusing.
First up we got Sonic Whacky Adventures 4 by Vamrack Powerhouse. My expectations on this one considering it’s supposed to be whacky I’m expecting this to be a drop back in animation quality and just a more humor focused, relaxed upload. Vamrack always goes above and beyond and I remember not caring for this one.

Alright. So first up is Counting Sheep Map by Kaido Mation. I know I’m gonna cringe at this one. I really don’t like Maps. But I can power through that and rate it fairly.

oof not gonna lie i remember that counting sheep one and its like my first experience with SN MAPs
i thought it was pretty cool and well done
syncing to music is tough idk how ppl with SN do it so wellthe DBZ wasn’t bad, i remember that
good sounds/music (aka post editing i imagine even with sounds) and thats usually a sign the animator “gives a damn” aka its gonna be quality

i as well as (most) of the animators appreciate the feedback for the poor souls that had their spotlights featured before a more robust system was implemented

I know nothing about these 2 either. Another one of those days.
First up looks like an OC battle. But it’s Gero vs Aquo by GeRo SeNpAi. Probably will be short considering most SN battles. But I will just say it’s thumbnail doesn’t quite pop out anywhere. But animation is always a good backup when you have no effort in visuals.

These clans also tend to have some pretty well animated collabs. Personally I don’t care for them, but this stuff tends to be big.

So neither of todays spotlights pop out to me as unique or promising. Let alone I know nothing about them.
First up is Black Goku VS Vegeta by Black Animator. Seems like there’s an obsession of black here. But It’s another DBZ animation. Likely will be short atleast.

@ what both toxic and EB bring up in their reviews, is true
somewhat “generic” and nothing too exciting
so why spotlight it?
well first off it wasn’t “bad” at all, in fact some of the effects and animation tricks were pretty neat and even some of the moves were animated well, although overall a bit stiff
anyway, animations that aren’t always “WOW 10/10” are good to showcase time to time because 1) they still satisfy the requirement of being at least “good enough” to show what SN can do and 2) it is actually more likely to inspire those who might not yet be too skilled with animation
these people see top-tier animators and while they are inspired they may feel its unattainable to ever reach that level
these types of vids maybe give more of a stepping stone to set goals and whatnot

in addition to that, I also wanted to add, sometimes even if an animation isn’t “WOW 10/10” but it’s still “pretty good” and its obvious the animator put work/effort in, I like to reward them with a spotlight + a few hundred/1000+ extra views to motivate them further

Pretty well nails that. Spotlights aren’t always gonna be just “Wow, best animation I’ve seen.” They are primarily to show some of the best work made with SN various features.

Once again. 2 series episodes. Thing’s are getting spicy again.
First up we have Chimdi Origins: EPISODE 2 by Chimdi. This was a good series. Very refreshing at the time from the Elements-like knockoffs. But we’ll see how it holds up today.

Today is same as always. Nothing I know of actually. But both are story surrounding.
We have one which kinda looks average compared to the other, but looks can be decieving. Still gonna have faith in SMX over this one. This one is Ep1 of CwarS Official by M Ancient. Seriously know nothing of this but I’m afraid I feel this will be like most other SN series.

First up is Resident Evil VS Left 4 Dead by Joker Execution. I remember watching a bit of this. Alot of repetition. But I have yet to figure out what alot of this stuff will be now that I am looking back at it a year later.

Todays spotlights bring back two things I remember. The great war and the cool voice stuff being explored in SN.
First up we are gonna do Transformers Animation: Voice Test #2. While expectations are higher than collabs, test animations tend to be really short. This will be cool though. Voice acting is something I’ve planned on adding for a while myself. But I don’t have everything needed for that yet.

First up we are gonna start off with DBS: Broly Joint by IRevizer and Unfunny Anime. No idea what I should think this will be like, but IRevizer I remember did some cool FPS stuff. So this should be somewhat interesting.

Well. I gotta be that way for several reasons. But primarily I’m that way cause you appreciate your work much more when you look at what is done right and what is done wrong rather than giving yourself a pat on the back thinking this is perfect and you can’t improve.

Yeah. Kinda puts into perspective how long people are waiting. Add tweened frame abuse isn’t particularily bad, it’s very good for making those simple movements fast and good. Like breathing or a hand gesture.
Same I spam add tweened frames most of the time. I only do it myself when the movements go weird.
