I’m also very excited for Apple’s vr headset, even if I’m not buying it

I’m just curious to see how they execute their idea, hopefully it goes well and gets them a place in the vr industry. That way we could start getting some direct competition to meta, and hopefully they don’t take the direction of strictly business headsets. But I doubt that, it’s apple.

    I’m still befuddled by this

I joined last summer. I was on this site for an entire school year, yet it feels like I joined a mere 2 months ago,

Guess time flies by when you’re on the silliest site to exist

I think it’s so it doesn’t get overshadowed by Apple unveiling it’s vr headset

I love it. Apparently the passthrough is going to be so good you could read text with the headset on, and it’s depth sensor is going to allow for so much better ar capabilities. All in full color, too.

And don’t get me started on that headset size. It’s so fucking tiny, and I love it!

Not to mention the fact that it’s going to have better resolution than the quest 2, pancake lenses, way more power, but one thing befuddles me. Those controllers.

No one knows how they track, besides the person who got to use it hands on who released limited info on it. They don’t use cameras imbedded in the controllers, or tracking rings, or lighthouse tracking or an external camera (obviously). It’s something new entirely. I’m not worried about its quality, obviously meta wouldn’t use a different tracking method if it was worse than before. No, I’m just curious on how they work, and I’m giddy to find out. My guess though is that they are still using inside out tracking, but they put the IR LEDS in the controller rather than in a ring. In which case I will be slightly disappointed, as new tracking technology would be very exciting, however this is still an improvement. Also I think the controllers are going to have better haptics than the old ones, but it’s not confirmed, they just listed it as a feature in the announcement trailer, and my guess is that if they’re announcing it and putting the spotlight on it in such a way, it’s improved.

Yeah so basically better resolution, better passthrough and AR due to superior, color, clear cameras and a depth sensor, more power, things are going to be clearer in the headset (don’t know if that goes along with better resolution, or if they did something to make things clearer), a native 120hz refresh rate, a slimmer, sleeker headset, pancake lenses, most likely a better ipd adjuster (in the leaks it showed it, and in the announcement trailer the lenses moved, smoothly, hinting at full ipd control like the quest 1), most likely better controllers (with no tracking rings, meaning they’re less likely to get in each other’s way and are more compact, just sad that you can’t stand them up anymore, lol), and hopefully the better cameras and depth sensor mean improved hand tracking

For $500, this is a steal. Definitely preordering day 1.

    • The biggest thing I’m worried about when it comes to the new headset is actual hardware. VR chat had to implement a fallback system, because the quest 2 was so underpowered. Now that we have steam deck-esc technology, It would be amazing to have a stand alone headset that’s on par with its pc competitors.

I think we’re going to be waiting quite some time for that due to how different vr is from flatscreen games, you have to take into account for more than just power, so making a standalone pcvr like headset would be pretty hard, especially since you need the frame rate to be steady and you need to have a not obnoxious cooling system, as pc’s during pcvr can get HOT, imagine how hot it would be in a small device with the cooling having to not be too loud

  • Got accepted to a beta test for a vr game known as dead hook

I think it’s going to stop working after the weekend, then I’ll have to wait until launch to play it again. But I’m going to try downloading the game to my computer so I can still play it before June 29th.

If he makes Sticknodes pc, it’ll be a lot more than just making an .exe file of the mobile version that isn’t even optimized for pc.

It’ll be a huge letdown if so

Basically what the others said. Don’t leave the site simply because you post random stuff and are new, he was referring the the toxic new users who would post random stuff at annoyingly high intervals and would be toxic to interact with. You’re pretty chill. If people find you annoying at times, examine yourself and try to eliminate your annoying attributes, but not so much as to that you aren’t yourself anymore. People found me annoying as first, and many still do, but less.

Just continue being yourself and posting here, glad to have you on the site.
