Probably only the things she, or currently affected items, are touching (like if her yo-yo is imbued with gravity, if that touches an item the item would also be able to be affected), or the things within a certain range idea

For example, she touches the yo-yo and it gets “imbued” on her will with the desired gravitational effects, she flings her yo-yo at a person. It lands, the person is now capable of being effected by her gravity powers (whether or not the capability of effecting them after the yo-yo stood touching is up to you). Of course she could also just touch the person as well

Also since you said you wanted the yo-yo to have a gun, you could have “gravity bullets” when the yo-yo is imbued with gravity, so if you affect their field, they can be like homing missiles to whatever you have their field get pulled into, and other cool things you could do.
