what if you arent known… like if you were in a stasis pod as a child and was sent into space with your most prized possessions? along with food and what not. and in the pod theres a small box thats basically a map back to earth. but since you were in a stasis pod you had no control over it so you just drifted through space for a very, very long time. (being in stasis your body didnt actually grow at all, so you were still a child after that long) when you finally landed on a planet you were on the edge of the milky way, meaning you were probably in stasis for thousands of years… so being on the outer rim of the milky way, you were unknown to most alien species, and you grew up on a human planet that had far surpassed what you had seen on earth. this place was so much more into rootics and engineering and what not, so they already had hyper drives. (brb)
