He doesn’t see it as wrong though because he believes these theories with all his heart, he got so paranoid once that he was convinced people were gonna come into our school and force give us the vaccine, and he was telling us how we should beat them up and run if that ever happened, it’s insane the stuff he thinks

  • Dad’s currently giving a lecture to my siblings how masks are ineffective and actually cause sickness, the vaccine is fake and wasn’t “researched enough” so therefore it’s going to hurt you if you get it (luckily this is the only vaccine he believes is “fake”, I’m still fully vaccinated on everything else) and how Covid can be cured by a selection of pills he saw on the internet. He also recently gave one on how the election was rigged. He also thought that Covid might’ve been a bio weapon released by some guy.

This is getting annoying, he basically just thinks everything on the news is fake and only the very sketchy articles he reads are the truth, he’s the embodiment of confirmation bias. And I used to believe this stuff too before I gained common sense. Can’t argue with him though or else he says “do your own research” even though he’s the one making these bullshit claims, so I continue to get these 30 minutes lectures. Though he seemed to be giving them to me specifically less, I started to argue with him on some stuff so I guess he just decided to stop since he doesn’t want to argue.

    • He should touch some grass or something damn

Real talk though, sure the world around us isn’t full of honesty, rainbows and buttercups but who cares, it is what it is, you do what you got to do and if things get in your way, sort it out. As soon as these convoluted theories start floating around you just come across as some crazy keyboard warrior Redditor.

What stands out to me the most is that he’s your father and he’s acting like that, it might not be abuse or worse but equally if I was acting like this as a dad, I would be disappointed. You’ve got crazy theories? More? Keep it to yourself and don’t fill your kids heads with theories instead of fact reason and good cultural messages.

I’m sorry to hear it Manny, I wish you and your family well and hopefully your father doesn’t take anything too far. I doubt he will so don’t take my good wishes as some sort of overdramafication of events.

Oh wow, I thought he was just a wild Redditor theorist, all talk no action but this guy sounds a little cracked out.

Well, at the end of the day ( not really, it’s literally always but still ) he’s your dad so I guess just kind of laugh it off, if you take to it as sort of a joke or apply a little sarcasm, given he’s not completely off his nut and won’t smash your skull in he should dial it back and realise he’s just being a dumbass.

The effectiveness of this option isn’t backed up by anything so don’t take my word on it but usually whenever my dad says something and it comes across as a little smooth-brained or goofy I’ll just kind of play it off, you got to balance the respectful ‘he’s your father’ aspect and the sort of friendship aspect. So long as you don’t cross the line for either you’ll be at a pretty sweet spot I think.

Of course there is also a chance that this was a while ago and he took a sizable break from Sticknodes, so he came back rusty, but there to be such a sizable skill gap it wouldn’t make too much sense

True, he also posted art that wasn’t even his without credit so I wouldn’t be surprised if this is like a jumble of movie clips put together, or just someone else’s project entirely
